  • LPI participates in UN Symposium of Free and Open Source Software

    (New York City, USA: August 29, 2006) – The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization will participate in a United Nations Institute for Training and Research ( UNITAR) Symposium on Free and Open Source Software on August 29, 2006 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, USA. The Symposium, entitled "Alternative Technologies for Development: A Look at Free Open Source Software (FOSS)" is organized in collaboration with Intel Corporation and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).


  • LPI Launches Open Source Professional Recruitment Service

    (San Francisco, California, USA: August 16, 2006) – The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), (http://www.lpi.org), the world's premier Linux certification organization announced the launch of an employment and contract matching service for Open Source Professionals who are registered on LPI's internal exam candidate database. The program will match IT professionals with Open Source skills with listing employers and contract opportunities. The program will be piloted in North America, Latin America, China, India and Germany.


  • LPI and Free Standards Group join forces in Latin America

    (Sao Paulo, Brazil: August 8, 2006) - The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification
    organization and the Free Standards Group will combine forces in Latin America to promote Open Standards and professional certification.  The two organizations will initiate this relationship through their key participation in a five city IT tour in Brazil beginning in August 2006 which includes such leading companies as IBM and Novell, local LPI training partners and other IT organizations.


  • LPI Announces Initiative with Guangdong Linux Center in China

    (Toronto, Canada: July 10, 2006) The Linux Professional Institute ( LPI ), the world's premier Linux certification organization and LPI-China  announced Guangdong Linux Center-- GDLC as its sub-affiliate for Guangdong Province—-the largest province by GDP in China. This initiative of LPI's affiliate in Greater China is a key component of LPI's Regional Enablement Initiative in the region.


  • LPI and Canonical Announce World's First Ubuntu Professionals

    (London, UK and New York City, USA: June 27, 2006) – The Linux Professional Institute (LPI),  the world's premier Linux certification organization, and Canonical Ltd., sponsor of the award-winning Ubuntu operating system, jointly announced the world's first Ubuntu Certified Professionals: Fred Strauss and Khayeni Ndlovu of Johannesburg, South Africa.

  • LPI Offers Discounted Certification Exams at LinuxWorld Utrecht (October 11-12)

    The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) will offer discounted certification exams to paid attendees of LinuxWorld Expo Utrecht at 11:00 and 15:00 on October 11-12, 2006. Exams will be in the English Language and include all LPIC-1 (101 and 102) and LPIC-2 (201 and 202) exams, both MySQL 5.0 certification exams (administrator and developer) and the Ubuntu Professional exam.  This will be the first time that the Ubuntu Professional exam will be offered at a LinuxWorld event in Europe.


  • LPI Offers Discounted Certification Exams at Ohio LinuxFest (September 2006)

     The Linux Professional Institute (LPI),  the world's premier Linux certification organization, will offer discounted Certification exams to "All Conference Pass" holders attending Ohio LinuxFest (http://www.ohiolinux.org), September 30, 2006.  The exam lab will be held on September 29, 2006 at the Holiday Inn City Centre Columbus, Ohio and all of LPI's LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 exams will be available, the Ubuntu Professional exam, and both MySQL 5.0 certification exams.
